Our Omoté Review
We chanced upon this Omoté Restaurant (they had this standing cute Bear Mascot at the entrance) when we went to get our lunch at the Thomson Plaza after our Dried Flowers Dome Workshop at Marymount.
It was around 1.15pm and one of the staffs, who greeted us, showed us a card sign that says that the last order was 1,30pm and we had to leave at 2pm. We decided to give it a shot.
The restaurant was rather big, not a well-lit place, quite packed even towards the half-day closure time (they close at 1.30pm and re-open at 5.30pm) and even with new customers coming in at around 1.25pm.
We were shown to a Table (meant for 4) and were given the Menu. On each table was their cute Bear Mascot that holds a pair of golden Chopstick that seemed to glow under the light (shaped like a cone and lined with cotton).
This cute Bear Mascot design from Omoté seems to change regularly (based on photos from other reviewers) so you may want to keep (and collect) them, if you like.

What We Ordered
With such a short time to choose and order from the list of many items in the Menu (view here), we decided what we wanted and signaled a few times before we got a lady to attend to us. She took our order on a small tablet and we went with Grilled Unagi Chirashi ($25.80), Premium Set ($8.80), Salmon Ikura Don ($23.80), Hot Green Tea ($2.80) and Ice Green Tea ($2.80). They do not serve Ice or Hot Water and the alternative is to order a bottle of Dasani Mineral Water.
— Hot And Cold Green Tea

The two Green Tea came first and pretty fast after the order. The taste was pretty normal but they came in Instagram-worthy cups. Not too sure if they were refillable (for free) as nobody came to offer any top-ups when we were half-way done with the drinks.
— Salmon Ikura Don Premium Set

We added a Premium Set to our order and it came together with the Salmon Ikura Don. This also came quite fast. The Premium Set was quite worth it at $8.80 (they have two other cheaper set options). It came with a Bowl of Miso Soup, Chawanmushi, Salad, Salmon Sushi, Seaweed Salad, Gyoza with Mentaiko and Braised Tofu.
— Seaweed Salad, Chawanmushi, Salad

Nothing special about these three items. Seaweed Salad was chewy, Salad had juicy baby tomatoes and there were Crabstick and Chicken chunk in the Chawanmushi.
— Salmon, Gyoza with Mentaiko and Braised Tofu

We liked the Salmon Slices which were thick and fresh. The Gyoza had a generous layer of Mentaiko sauce and there were two different types of Braised Tofu and the sauce was well infused.
— Salmon Ikura Don

The Salmon Ikura Don came with a lot of ‘smelly greens’ which we had a hard time separating them out. So if you are not into them, remember to ask the staff not to add them to your Mains and Side Dishes.
This item came with a generous serving of Fresh Salmon and Ikura (Salmon Roe) and this kept the rice below warm. It also came with a small flower which we had no idea if it was edible or meant to be a decorative piece. Salmon Slices were thick, fresh and tasty. The Ikura was also bursting with flavor inside our mouth.
Another interesting find in this Salmon Ikura Don was that the top were made up of layers of salmon, gravy and seaweed which somehow kept the rice warm.
— Grilled Unagi Chirashi

The Grilled Unagi Chirashi was the last to arrive and it was another big serving. It also came with many greens and sesame seeds scattered all over the bowl.

The Chirashi portion was made up of generous portions of Ika, Tuna, Tobiko and Salmon. Ika was chewy. Salmon and Tuna were both chunky, fresh and tender. Tobiko was also bursting with flavor.

There were around 4 long slices of Grilled Unagi with a chewy skin. The pieces were also well-drenched with a layer of Teriyaki sauce. It was nice to eat the Unagi on its own, chewing away the skin first and then the bones.

The other thing that they were generous with was the Teriyaki sauce which we could almost scooped every spoonful of rice with some sauce in it. The sauce itself was a bit sweet so just eating the soaked rice was a challenge to our taste buds.
We managed to finish our meals a few minutes before 2pm. There were still some couples and families taking the time to finish the food while chatting (not too sure if there were any ‘friendly’ reminders).
We made our payment at the counter and Omoté do charge the additional Service Charge of 10% as well as 7% GST.
