Our Review On El Carbon
We chanced upon the El Carbon (Ang Mo Kio Outlet), a Halal Western Food Concept, at Food Loft Food Court when we were done with our gym session (must train hard so can still eat more) on a late Sunday afternoon.
We saw quite a few customers (including Malay families) with big servings of Western Food, a queue at the Stall and this Tom Yum Pasta dish on their electronic display… we decided to join the queue and try the food.
Queue at the ordering counter was pretty fast moving and we only waited around 5 minutes.
What We Ordered?

El Carbon has quite a lot of items on their Menu – Starters, Salad, Mains, Sharing Platter, Pasta, Oven Baked and Rice Bowl.
When we ordered the Tom Yum Pasta, the lady at the counter was confused until we pointed it out that it was on their Electronic Display. She told us that it was a “Limited Time Only” dish and no longer available.
We went with their Chicken Truffle Alfredo (PB06 – $8.50) from their Pasta Section and Signature 1/2 Roasted Chicken with Kicap Manis Sauce (M05 – $10.50) (quite a popular dish) from their Mains Section.
The Taste
— Signature 1/2 Roasted Chicken with Kicap Manis Sauce

Both orders took a while to prepare and by time the beeper beeped, our cold drinks were already ‘sweating’ profusely.
Servings size were big for both especially for the Roasted Chicken dish so they were definitely valued for money in terms of quantity.
So for the Roasted Chicken dish, it came with the 1/2 Roasted Chicken, a big pile of fries, corn, the salads and the Kicap Manis Sauce.

We started off with the Fries in case the tearing up of the Chicken sent many flying away. The fries were not oily and they were really crispy. They went well with many of the sauces (chilli, ketchup, the Kicap Manis sauce, Salad Dressing and the Pasta sauce).
![El Carbon (AMK) 4 Salads](https://images.eattravelshiok.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/11112934/ElCarbon-005.jpg)
We tried the Salads next. They were rather crunchy and they were also soaked in this special Salad Dressing which tasted like a combination of orange and lemon. This Salad Dressing was also very tasty and we ate with most of the items.

After the Salads, it’s time for the Roasted Chicken. We liked that the meat could be easily torn apart and we saw juices flowing out. The chicken skin was a thin layer with a tinge of crispiness. Meat was tender but tasted bland… and that’s the reason for the Kicap Manis Sauce and we had to eat together with that.
Not too sure if the Kicap Manis Sauce was made in-house or bought from the supermarkets but it tasted really good. It had a sweet taste and those little bits in it created another layer of taste (not too sure how to describe it) and the chicken meat tasted really good with it.
Portion size was good enough for two.
— Chicken Truffle Alfredo

The second dish that we tried from El Carbon was the Chicken Truffle Alfredo which included the Pasta, Mushroom and Small Chunks of Chicken. We added Cheese Powder onto it (available at the counter together with the other sauces and utensils). The dish came with ‘well hidden’ onions so be careful if you are not into it.

When we started to eat, we were a little disappointed that we could not taste or smell any bit of the Truffle. We quite liked the Alfredo sauce and we thought that they were quite generous with the sauce as we could eat most of the pasta with the sauce on it.
Mushroom and Chicken tasted normal and we thought they were there just to add some chewy bites. We also added a bit of the Salad Dressing and the Kicap Manis Sauce to the pasta and it was another taste and we liked it.
