Note: Mr. Prawnie Fried Hokkien Big Prawn Mee has closed down!

About Mr. Prawnie Fried Hokkien Big Prawn Mee

Latest Update: Mr Prawnie will no longer be at Blk 721 Ang Mo Kio Ave 8. Their new location is at Blk 304 Ubi Ave 1 #01-95, Singapore 400301.

There are many Hokkien Prawn Mee (Prawn Noodles) stalls all over Singapore but not all stalls cook this dish the same for the same price.

If you have cravings today and you are looking for one that serves big juicy, tender prawn (not those small small ones that you find from many other stalls), shells and with tasty sambal chill, lard (sinful) and tangy rice noodles… you can check out our recommended stall – Mr. Prawnie Fried Hokkien Big Prawn Mee located at Ang Mo Kio today!

And if you like premium food like Lobster or Crayfish to go with your Hokkien Mee, Mr Prawnie Fried Hokkien Big Prawn Mee is also offering this option (subject to availability) at a Hawker Centre Price. This means you no longer have to go to a restaurant just to pay more to enjoy better food.

Our Review Of Mr. Prawnie Fried Hokkien Big Prawn Mee

The Fried Hokkien Big Prawn Mee ($8)

We ate at this stall two times in the last month and for both times the standard is same and good.

They did provide side plates for sharing though it’s self service.

This is what we like:

  • Wetness is just right (not all Hokkien Mee stalls can do that)
  • Well Cooked Big, Tender Juicy Prawns that you will love biting through (be careful when you peel and don’t worry, there’s a sink there for you to wash later) (this is also a good chance for good man to show their gentleman side and start peeling the prawns and the ladies can do their part and prepare some wet tissues)
  • Crunchy Lard (if you prefer it to be  crunchy, do enjoy  it before it absorbs the gravy of the noodles)
  • Sambal chilli that mixes and goes well with the lime and tangy rice noodle
  • Freshness of the Lala
  • The $8 serving is good enough for two small eaters. On both visits, there were a few couples sharing the $15 plate.

Other Options on their Menu include:

  • $15 which includes 2 Big Prawns, 1 Crayfish, Sotong (Squid) and Lala (shells)
  • $20 which includes 2 Big Prawns, 1 Flower Crab, Sotong and Lala

Something To Take Note:

If you are sitting outside and there are not much customers around (i.e. a Sunday afternoon), you may have to share your environment with a handful of houseflies (they are most probably attracted to the shells and prawns).

Our Verdict:

Mr. Prawnie Fried Hokkien Big Prawn Mee is currently one of our favorite Hokkien Mee which we will definitely recommend you to try if you have a craving or would like to try it. Go for the $8 option if you are sharing just nice with someone or go with the $15 or $20 if you (and your partner or your group) have a bigger appetite and a craving for something special.
