About Arbite

Arbite is a cosy local restaurant at Serangoon Garden Way which you can visit anytime of the day if you have cravings for poultry, salads, seafood, burgers, cakes, juice and specially crafted beers. Most of the food items are prepared in Modern European Style with a bit of Asian twist.

Our Review Of Arbite

We were trying our luck to look for a place for brunch on a late weekend afternoon and we managed to find Arbite and an empty parking lot. Located just above a Guardian store and a staircase with holes in the wall (beautified by Lego Bricks) leading the way up, we were invited by lots of chattering midway and quite a crowd (around 60% filled) there. You will definitely find this place noisy and cramped when the place is filled up and when you are there with a big group.

We were given a seat near the entrance and presented with a long menu with a long list of food items to choose from.

(In case you are not too sure what to try there, you can refer to their All Time Favourites)

We decided to try something fishy and we ordered their Locally Farmed Seabass from the Brunch Bites Menu and a Pork Cumberland Sausage as an Add-On. For drinks, we went with an iced Matcha Yuzu Fizz.

Food Taste

— The Locally Farmed Seabass ($23)

He: The Locally Farmed Seabass is well presented and with quite a big serving of Seabass slices. The Risotto is wet and tasty enough with the Laksa Pesto well mixed together. For ladies who do not like coriander, you may be disappointed with this dish (and a few others) because you will definitely taste it.

The dish also comes with a special paste which we cannot make out of it but it really tastes good when you mix it with each scoop of risotto. The Daikon (or Radish) is chopped into bite sized and fun to eat with as you pop the pieces into your mouth.

The Seabass slices are well-cooked and you can cut into smaller pieces easily with your spoon or fork. We also didn’t find any fish scales when we took a bite on the fried skin. The only disappointment that we have is that the fried skin was not crispy enough.

She: I am not fond of the strong taste of the coriander but realized if mixed with the paste, it was reasonably covered. They used pea shoots (or more commonly known as dou miao) to garnish the dish. Being not a vegetable lover, I only ate one piece. It tasted quite raw but went well with the risotto.

— The Pork Cumberland Sausage ($4.50)

He: Nothing impressive about it but both of us have different taste buds for it. She found it quite salty but I found the taste is just right. You will not find this dish oily and those pieces of vegetables are quite good and not what you usually find in salad bowls.

She: I did not know what a Cumberland Sausage was and googled for a picture before deciding to order it. I thought it will be those coiled up sausages but it was just a normal length one. They used some black sauce to decorate the plate and I thought it tasted sour, somewhat like vinegar.

— The Matcha Yuzu Fizz ($6.50)

She: The drink is topped with pomegranate. Being an adventurous but picky eater, I tried one and decided I did not like it. The drink was fizzy enough and tasted quite good. It wasn’t too sweet though I could not taste the matcha.

Our Verdict:

He: I would consider coming back again to try out their other dishes.

She: I pretty much regretted my choice of food but will consider going back to try other dishes but for now, I think my favourite will be the matcha fizz.
