Our Ice Edge Cafe Review
Ice Edge Cafe is a cozy cafe located at Simon Plaza (Kovan Road) where you can enjoy good Pizza, Pasta, Western Fusion, Gelato and Beverages at any time of the day.
We visited the Ice Edge Cafe on a weekend afternoon right before our visit to the Dentist (we had to gargle a few times after eating…). We were there around 2 pm and the place was already crowded with a Birthday Party at one corner, a few Families with Kids, Couples and Friends’ Gathering.
We were shown to a four-person table with the cushion seat becoming little worn out and we could feel the leather pieces tickling our thighs. The cafe was cozy with fanciful decorations all over. Water (Hot and Cold) was free flow and self-served from the water dispenser located near the main entrance.
Their menu had many items which gave us a little bit of hard time selecting. Eventually we decided what we wanted and the manager just memorized our orders (without repeating to us) and we started to wonder if our items would come eventually (alas one of our items was not served and their staffs confirmed that the manager did not pass to them that order – so the memory was quite bad ah?!). And the worst case was that… after confirming the lost order, we had to remind them again to serve.
For their payment modes, they only accept Cash and Nets at the Payment Counter.
Our Food Orders
— Crispy Duck Confit with Truffle Mashed Potato ($19.80)
Mashed potato tasted rather normal which did not have that strong milky and buttery taste. The truffle smell wasn’t strong but we could still taste it – so not too bad la ah.
The Duck Meat could be cut through easily and tasted the best. They went well with the Thai Mayo (which came with our Calamari order) as well. The dark sauce just added a bit of salted taste to the meat.
— Calamari with Thai Mayo ($13.80)
Calamari tasted normal. But the batter was nice, good and crispy and those darker batter pieces got us to enjoy better.
Thai Mayo was like a combination of Mayonnaise and Sweet Thai Chili sauce and it went well with the Calamari and Duck Meat.
Both greens (from the Calamari and Duck Meat) were fresh and came with light dressing which did help us to whelp our appetite.
— Blue Hawaiian Lemonade ($7.80) and Ice Long Black ($6)
Ice Long Black came with no sugar syrup (we did not asked for it – healthy living?!) so it tasted a little bitter. Coffee had a Strong Aroma and not that Acidic.
The Blue Hawaiian Lemonade was fizzy and we had to use the stirrer to stir the bottom parts to mix well. Overall taste after mixing was not really sour but more on the sweet side.
— Chocolate Lava Cake ($13.80)
This item was the item that the manager had forgotten to add to our orders. So after hearing from the staff that this item may took so time to prepare we were pondering but still went ahead. This came after 10 minutes after two reminders.
Gelato Ice Cream was thick, creamy and nice. We chose the Pistachio flavor and it was nice and went well with the lava cake.
For the Lava Cake, the chocolate lava actually tasted better than the cake so we were happily scooping them up so as not to waste it!
