Our Review On Wicked Grill

We were looking for a place to satisfy our meat craving and we decided to eat at Wicked Grill after comparing with few other rather similar selections because of the price ($29.80 nett and not plus-plus) and they are opened for lunch.

When we were there around 1 pm, the place was 80% crowded with groups of teenagers (mostly boys) and one small family at a corner. We also found one “rather moody” tall guy over at the cashier counter who would be tasked to take (lots) of orders from the tables (the boys could really eat), clearing the plates and serving throughout our time there.

Takeaway seemed to be available over at Wicked Grill as we saw a few uncles coming in, placed their orders and leaving after a short wait with a few packed foods.

We settled down, looked through the Menu, decided what we wanted and we went over to the counter to place the order. Ordering was rather simple and you just have to point and say what you want, the guy acknowledged and you can go back to your table and wait for the food to be served.

We took less than 90 minutes to get full and when we wanted to make payments, we were told that only cash payment is acceptable and no other modes. Luckily we had still spare cash to pay everything or else it would have a long walk to the nearest ATM and back.

The Menu

Food Taste

He: My initial thoughts when we ordered the food from the menu were that the meats would be cooked with the sauces that we chose. And I was wrong, it was served as a platter with the grilled meat and came with small bowls of the sauces.

She: We took time to think about what we wanted but it ended up pointless. Plus side is we get to try a variety of sauces (it did make a slight difference to the taste of the food). Downside was that the way the food was cooked and the cut of the meat was inconsistent. Drinks were available at the side fridge. Luckily for us, we were served the drinks but I saw some others taking their own. There seems to be only one person taking orders, clearing plates, serving food and be a cashier for that day.

He: The image above was the first round which includes the beef, chicken, fish, sides and the various sauces. The beef and the grilled chicken were definitely good and the sauces brought out different taste to the meat. We managed to order two rounds of the meat before we decided to give up. We also noticed that the taste of the meats was a little different on the second round. Dory Fish was a bit bland so we did not go with it for the rest of the buffet. We assumed that the other dory fish would just come with another sauce so we did not choose that as well.

She: I pretty much enjoyed the first round of beef as it was medium cooked. The beef was thin cut so cutting and chewing was easy. Not much fats on the meat. Grilled chicken was thigh meat (thumbs up!) though the second round the meat came with bones. Dory was a bit on the damp side and it tasted bland without the sauces.

He: The sides were good too. Fries were nicely fried and crispy from end to end and I did not get any of those soft and mushy ones. French Beans and the Asparagus were nicely grilled too. And the long list of sides on the menu? You may not get them on that day. Those available during the buffet were Baby Carrots, Corn Cob, Truffle Fries, Onion Rings, Grilled French Beans and Grilled Pencil Asparagus.

She: Except for the fries and long beans, I did not taste the sides. The onion rings were authentic onions so do steer clear if you are not an onion lover.

Should You Try Wicked Grill?

Go there with an empty stomach to try out the Steak Buffet. Try everything on the first round and decide what to eat after that. Be patient for your next few rounds especially when there is a crowd and a few tables ordered a big stack of meats at one go. It may take even longer when there is one person doing all the work outside the kitchen.

Taste wise on the meats and sides are good but don’t expect consistency. Go for a few rounds of meats, maximize your 90 minutes and you will definitely get more than your $29.80 nett worth. Remember to reserve your place through their Facebook Page / Messenger and wait up to a day for confirmation. Lastly bring cash to make your payments.

If you are not into buffet but would like to go for their Ala Carte Menu, you can check out what they offer here.
