The Sushi Bar is a popular Japanese Food restaurant which serves a wide variety and premium quality Japanese Cuisines and Drinks at affordable prices. They have outlets at Far East Plaza, Ngee Ann City and Tampines 1.
We were at the Orchard Road for a weekend half-day date and we decided to use this chance to eat around the area and The Sushi Bar, at Ngee Ann City, was the first place that we visited.
We were initially worried we couldn’t get a seat at The Sushi Bar as this place was always crowded at any time of the day and as expected when we reached, there was already a small group of people queuing outside. We managed to be the fourth or fifth in line and the queue started getting even longer after that. Lucky for us, there were seats for two after a few minutes of waiting. Our seats were beside the bar counter and looking at it from the bright side, the staff should be able to notice us pretty easily if we need any assistance.
We were given the Menu in it was indeed a long list of items to choose from. The menu had many sections like Appetizer, Salad, Sashimi, Sushi per Piece, Makimono, Temaki, Donburi, Noodles, Yakimono, Osuimono, Dessert, Drinks and many pages of alcoholic drinks like Sparkling Sake, Beer, Sake and Whisky
After looking through a few times, we initially ordered the Otoro Sashimi (Blue Fin Tuna Belly at Seasonal Pricing) but unfortunately it was already sold out so we just ordered a Wagyu Don ($34.90) and a Salmon Aburi Roll ($16.90).
Food Ordered
— Wagyu Don ($34.90)

It took quite a while for them to serve this item and when it was finally served, we were so hungry that we forgot to take a photo until the last mouth.
For this Wagyu Don, the beef was quite thick and it melted in our mouth without much chewing. Taste wise, the wagyu beef had its own flavors when we ate them on its own, but pairing it with the Japanese Rice (after mixing them well with the Onsen Egg and the sweet sauce) did not take away the wagyu beef flavor but gave a different taste to the beef.
There were garnishes on it so we had to spend some time removing them. There were also some greens (radishes and baby tomatoes) that came along with it.
— Salmon Aburi Roll ($16.90)

For the Salmon Aburi Roll (8 pieces of Torched Salmon Roll with Mentaiko), it was served shortly after the Wagyu Don.
We could taste the freshness of the salmon and we really liked that it was well-torched together with the Mentaiko Sauce and it had that little smoky taste. There was another piece of raw salmon wrapped inside which we wished the chunk could have been bigger. But other than that, nothing else was impressive about the other ingredients (i.e. Avocado, Cucumber and rice).
Once we were done with the two dishes, we proceeded to the Payment Counter, made our payment with a Credit Card and we were off to the next eating place – The Baker’s Brew Cafe!
