ASTONS Steak & Salad Buffet

Our Review On ASTONS Steak & Salad Buffet (The Centrepoint Outlet)

ASTONS Steaks & Salads

ASTONS Steak & Salad is one of the many food brands under the ASTONS and we decided to try them out at The Centrepoint Outlet, Orchard Road after seeing no queue on a Sunday Afternoon.

We waited at the entrance for a short moment and we were greeted by one of the staffs who directed us to the Cashier Counter before giving us a Table. We were told to make our orders and payment first.

The Menu

Menu from ASTONS Steak & Salad

If you want to know what are the menu items from ASTONS Steak & Salad, there is this giant Menu Board right beside the entrance and if there is a queue, you will have some time to look through and decide what you want.

On their Menu, they have Main Categories like:

  • Legendary Steaks (Sirloin, Ribeye, New York Strip, Ribeye X-Cut, Tenderloin, T Bone, Japanese A3 Wagyu Steak)
  • Chicken Dinner (Chargrilled, Black Pepper, Hickory BBQ, Lemon Lime, Golden Fried)
  • Entree (Honey Bourbon Ribs, Lamb T Bone, Spanish Chestnut Pork, Golden Fried Fish, Grilled Fish w Herbs, Grilled Salmon Fillet)
  • Burgers (Japanese Wagyu)
  • Kids Meal (Chopped Steak, Fish & Chips, Beef Bolognese)
  • Just Buffet (Salad)
  • Beer & Wine (Heineken, Red Wine)

What We Ordered

After a few quick glances over the Menu, we went with their Sirloin (Medium with French Fries at $31.90) and Spanish Chestnut Pork (with French Fries at $29.90). Other Sides Option include Baked Potato. The prices quoted here include GST and there’s no Service Charge.

After payment, we were shown to our Table. The two Mains took some time to arrive so we started off with the Salad Buffet.

Their Salad Buffet Items

Vanilla Ice Cream & Toppings
Vanilla Ice Cream & Toppings

Ice Cream is included as part of their Buffet and we noticed that they had only Vanilla and not too sure what was inside that covered Tub. The opened tub was almost empty and it was not easy to scrap with a single hand… the other hand had to hold onto the tub before we could scoop (hygiene conscious people beware!). Vanilla Ice Cream was thick and good and tasted really nice with the chocolate syrup and crushed peanuts.

Coffee & Soft Drinks
Coffee & Soft Drinks

Drink wise they have this Westen Coffee Machine and Soft Drinks (Lemon, Coca-Cola, Fanta Grape, Plain Water, Sprite) Kiosk. We quite liked their choice of Coffee Beans – very aromatic, not too bitter and acidic in taste. Only issue was that the coffee cup was a bit small for heavy drinkers like us.

Cooked Food Section
Cooked Food Section

At one corner was their Cooked Food Section where we saw items like Baked Rice, Rosti, Onion Rings, French Beans, Baby Carrots, Potato Wedges, Saute Mushrooms, Steam Broccoli, Garlic Bread, Muffins, Corns, Mashed Potatoes, Cheese Sauce and an unknown sauce.

Soups Section
Soups Section

Beside the Cooked Food Section was their Soups Section where we saw Mushroom Soup, Clear Vegetable (Cabbage) Soup and Pumpkin Soup. We tried their Clear Vegetable Soup and there was a home cooked taste to it with a slight tinge of oil which appeared on top of the soup. Big and Small Spoons could be found right behind you if you are facing the Soups Section.

Fruits, Cold Dishes & Miscellaneous Items
Fruits, Cold Dishes & Salad Dressings & Toppings

Beside the Soups Section was their Fruits, Cold Dishes and Salad Dressings and Toppings. We quite liked their Cheese Sausage Cold Dish with the only issue of the presence of onions. We also tried this semi-cleared salad dressing without really knowing what it was and it was surprinsingly sour.

Salad Corner
Salad Corner

At the last corner was their Salad Section where there were a wide variety of items to select from. Salad Lovers would definitely be happy with the selection and there’s also a lady staff behind this section whom kept making sure that the items were replenished fast. Two items that we found missing were Pickles and Olives.

The Sirloin (Medium) Steak and Spanish Chestnut Pork Steak with Fries were served roughly after our first round of salad buffet items. Fries were nice, crispy and not oily which we really enjoyed. Sad that there was no Ketchup or Chilli Sauce. Sauces for the meat were not really strong in flavours.

Sirloin was supposed to be medium but it turned out well-done but luckily the beef taste and flavours were there. Spanish Chestnut Pork was good and had more of taste, texture and flavours as compared to plain Pork Chop. We also liked that we could easily tear off the pork meat off the bone so that no meats were wasted.

Should You Try ASTONS Steak & Salad Buffet?

The meat selections and options are similar to their other brand – ASTONS Specialities. For example, using the Sirloin Steak to compare, it’s $31.90 for Sirloin + 1 Side + Salad Buffet versus $19.90 for Sirloin + 2 Sides. Sides are listed as $3 each so the Sirloin Steak is $13.90. So for ASTONS Steak & Salad Buffet, you are paying around $15 for the free flow salad items, drinks and ice cream.

Eating more greens is also beneficial for health and the Green Options from ASTONS Steak & Salad are more as compared to other buffets.

So if you think you can enjoy the greens and just one meat option, you should definitely try the ASTONS Steak & Salad Buffet.
