Our Baker’s Brew Cafe Quick Review
The Baker’s Brew is one of the best places in Singapore where you (and friends) can learn, as a total Beginner or even on an Advanced Level, on how to bake and decorate beautiful cakes and pastries. They also have a cafe located at the fifth level of Paragon Shopping Centre which they opened back in 2017 and where you can chill, enjoy their handcrafted cakes while sipping away a cup of tea.
We visited this cafe as part of our half day’s date at Orchard Road and for a quick bite after our meal at The Sushi Bar over at Ngee Ann City. The cafe was already 95% crowded (with an ongoing baking class) but we managed to get two seats right to the entrance after two customers left right at that moment we reached. Thank you guys!
Though this place was meant for people to relax and chill, we found that it was very hard to do as there was a playground just outside and kids were literally running and shouting at the top of their heads!
What We Ordered
— Cake Slices Menu

Though the menu had quite a number of cakes items but we were told to choose our Cake Slices from their display as what was listed might not be available on that day. Luckily, on that day, they still had quite a selection to choose from and the cake slices really looked attractive and delicious under the bright spot lights (we missed taking a photo).
We made our order and payment directly at the cashier counter and we went with their Rose-scented Watermelon Cake ($9.50) and a cup of Latte ($5.80).

Our two orders came pretty fast.
This Rose-scented Watermelon Cake ($9.50) was a rather popular choice among the customers there as we saw a few tables having it. Another popular choice was their Ondeh Ondeh ($7.50).
For this cake slice, it was really interesting. Most cakes are triangular but this is rectangular. It had a slice of Watermelon in the middle of two spongy layers and decorated with Strawberries and Almonds slices on top. The cream was not too thick or too strong on taste and there was this smell of rose when we had a chunk inside our mouth. The watermelon slice was juicy and well cut with no taste of the outer hard skin. Overall, the cake was refreshing to taste.
— Flat White ($5.80)

Our Latte ($5.80) came with a bit of Latte Art (a heart shape?) and the design only lasted for a short while. It was a rather small cup and we finished it in just a few mouths. Coffee taste was rather normal. We felt that the price for this Latte was not justifiable.
We wanted to stay on at the Baker’s Brew Cafe to see what those guys were baking over at the studio area (very interesting sights) but there was already a small queue waiting outside (better to give up our seats for others) and we had to find one more place to end our half day’s date at Orchard Road.
