Our Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse Review
Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse is an Italian Theme Restaurant located at 26 Mohamed Sultan Road and famous for its Bistecca alla Fiorentina which is a thick cut, char-grilled T-bone steak prepared in traditional Tuscan style.
We reserved a table at Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse via Chope to celebrate our birthdays together by trying out their popular Fiorentina Steak ($188) Dinner.
They open at 6pm daily for dinner and when we were there around 6.10 pm (note that reservation can only be held for 15 minutes the most before they release it), there were already few tables occupied. We approached the lady over at the front counter whom greeted us with a smile (a good sign of good customer service over at Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse!) and we were shown our seats and presented with the menus.
We brought our own small slice of cake (a Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake from Starbucks) there and they offered to help us keep in their fridge. They also asked if we were there for any celebration and we told them it’s for our birthdays.
Food Taste
— Sparkling Water
While we wait for the Fiorentina Steak, we were asked for our choice of drinks. They had a wide choice but we went for a bottle of Sparkling Water (still chargeable but definitely cheaper than the wines) and they would top up with Ice Water once we were done with the bottle. There was nothing special about this water and was just basically carbonated water. One of the many good services over at Bistecca Tuscan was that they were observant and would automatically do the top up once they saw the cup was getting empty.
— Focaccia Bread (Free Flow)

This Focaccia Bread, along with a spread that tasted quite like thickened mushroom soup (the spread actually tasted very nice on its own), came as their appetizer. This was free and we could keep asking for it but we would suggest otherwise (water and bread would fill up the stomach very fast). The bread tasted fresh and went along well with the spread.
— Cozze ($35)

Cozze was an additional order from their Antipasti (plural for First Course) Section and is a dish of Wild Australian Mussels, White Wine, Garlic Butter and Tarragon (a kind of Herb).
This came right after the Focaccia Bread and we really enjoyed this dish. Mussels were thick and chewy and the soup base was really tasty – sour with a tinge of wine taste and not too salty. It went well with the toasted bread too.

Fiorentina was from their Alla Griglia Section and was their signature 1.1 kg T-Bone Steak dish which was meant to be shared.
Before we came here, we saw some reviews online that there was a smaller (and cheaper) steak size option but subjected to availability on that day. So we tried going for it but the nice gentlemen, who served us, asked if we were small eaters and he was pretty surprised when we said yes. He went in to check and came back saying that they only have the smaller option for the Costata (which was their 1.1 kg Bone-In Ribeye). Price was no different so we looked at each other, prepared our tummies and jus went for the original Fiorentina option…
For the meat done-ness we went with Medium. Luckily it was a good choice because when it came, there were many sights of redness in the middle of the steak and the next table was even worried as they had ordered Medium-Rare.

This T-Bone was a really big serving and came with two different textures of meat on each side of the bone. One side was a larger portion and came with a lot of fats whereas the other side was more of the tender side. We also noticed that Oil / Meat Juice was seeping out from the fatty side as we ate.
We liked the tender portion better as we could taste the texture of the meat and the seasonings. The fatty parts were nice initially but after eating a few big chunks of it, we started to feel the greasiness (we were relieved that we did not eat too much of the bread).
It also came with four different types of sauce – Horse Radish, English Mustard, Djon Mustard & Black Pepper.
There was a small pinch of Sea Salt at the corner of the plate which we could rub onto the meat if we wanted the taste to be saltier. The meat itself was already marinated with salt.

We finished like 90% of it, with 10% of it being stuck to the bone and with the cutlery provided, it would be tough to cut out the meat so we gave up.
Our overall impression for this dish was that it could be better if the steak had more of the tender side (too much fats spoilt the appetite). We also thought that the 1.1 kg portion was just nice for a guy and a lady to barely finish but for two ladies it could be a challenge.
— Desserts

After clearing up the plates and the utensils, they asked if we would like to have dessert portions for one or two. We asked for one and without knowing what it would be.
They came back with a slice of cake (we mentioned earlier to them that we were here for a birthday celebration) with a nice sparkling candle and this was on the house. The ambience was cozy enough that the next table diners even wished us. The cake tasted normal (possibly because we were still feeling full from the steak). We still managed to finished this as well as the slice of cake that we bought from Starbucks. Thank you, Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse for the kind gesture!
