Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon

Our Review On Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon

Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon (Bedok North)

We were craving for something soupy on a Sunday Afternoon for our Yin Yoga Class over at Yoga Inc and Google Map suggested this Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon Stall and we decided to head down to give it a try.

The image above is just one of their stalls for Food Collection, they have another joint stall meant for ordering and payment.

Menu & What We Ordered

In their Menu, they have quite a selection:

  • Red Grouper / Grouper / Batang Fish Head Soup – Starting from $6
  • Sliced Fish / Sliced Fish Bee Hoon / Pig’s Stomach / Fried Fish / Fried Fish Bee Hoon / Seafood Soup
  • Sliced Fish Porridge
  • Braised Big Intestine, Braised Pig Trotter, Dou Pok, Braised Egg, Fortune Fish, Mei Cai
  • Bak Kut Teh

We ordered two sets of their Sliced Fish Soup and a serving of Dou Pok.

The Taste

— Sliced Fish Soup

Sliced Fish Soup

For their Sliced Fish Soup, we liked their generosity in the ingredients. Soup was almost filled to the brim and it came with a lot of sliced fish.

Clear Fish Soup

Their Fish Soup was deep, flavorful and sweet to a certain extent. It came with a lot of greens so it may take some time to get them out if they are not to your liking.

Bottom of the Fish Soup

Towards the bottom of the soup, there were some crispy bits which contributed a lot to the taste of the soup.

Bitter Gourd, Lettuce

The soup came with a good serving of lettuce and bitter gourd and they were very soft to taste and no distinct bitterness for the bitter gourd.

Sliced Batang Fish

Their Key Ingredient – the Sliced Fish. The texture was smooth and thick and for those who like to play with their food – you can do so with their Sliced Fish, slowly peeling off the meat and dipping them into the dark soy sauce.

— Dou Pok

Dou Pok (Tau Pok / Tofu Puffs)

We added this small bowl of Dou Pok (Tau Pak or Tofu Puffs) as a side dish to our Sliced Fish Soup. It came with 6 pieces.

Dou Pok

We liked the overall texture of their Dou Pok – tough and chewy. The broth was interestingly nice also and we couldn’t help sipping it up on its own.

Chili Sauce and Dark Soy Sauce

Their Chili Sauce and Dark Soy Sauce were not hot and they gave that additional taste to the Dou Pok and Sliced Fish respectively.
