Our PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering Hotel Stay Review
We recently booked a stay at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering on a weekday to experience a change of WFH environment and hence this review.
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering is a popular five-star hotel from Pan Pacific. It is located in the Chinatown area and famous for its greenish front and top (by drone) façade.
— Check-In Counters, Complimentary Parking, Holding Charges, Dining Discount
Upon entering the Hotel, there was this large Open Area for their 2 Check-In Counters. Straight ahead was their famous LIME Restaurant. The lift to the Carpark was on the left and the lift to the rooms was on the right. Only 1 counter was opened on that day when we checked in.
The lady who served us was very friendly. We were given Room 725 (Lifestyle Room), our physical card was charged (no contactless available) with a holding of around $300 as well as a complimentary-free parking. Dining wise, we were given 20% off for their LIME Restaurant.
Other than the Lifestyle Room, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering also offers other rooms like Urban Room, Signature Room and COLLECTION Room.
— Decor, Bed, Pillows, Blanket & Switches
The overall decor of the room in PARKROYAL Collection Pickering was very woody with shades of olive. The Lifestyle Room came with a Double-sized Bed, 4 very Soft Pillows and a thick Blanket that was good enough to keep us warm in the pre-set Aircon temperature of 19 degrees. The pillows were still soft when we stacked two together and we could not feel a strong neck support. Bed was really firm which we liked.
Switches for the lights and aircon were touch-sensitive and they were located on the right side of the bed. They were not very sensitive though and we had a little hard time adjusting the aircon temperature up. There were two bottles of complimentary Mineral Water sealed tight and placed on the side table.
— TV Channels
They had around 33 TV channels – 3 for the Hotel, 6 for News, 2 for Movies, 4 for Entertainment/Lifestyle, 2 for Sports, 3 for Kids, 2 Local Chinese Channels, 11 for International/Others. There were not many interesting movies that day so we spent most of the time watching the news.
— Toilet & Amenities
The toilet was quite big. There was a bath tub, with a nice view outside. There were also separate areas for the Toilet Bowl and Shower area. To draw down the curtains, there was a switch and the motorised curtain would slowly descend. The strength of the water from the Shower Head was strong which we liked.
We were given Bathing Amenities like Toothbrushes (Black & White), Toothpastes, Shaving Kit, Shower Cap, Vanity Kit (Cotton Buds, Pads and Emery Board), Sanitary Bag, APPELLES Skin Lotion, Body Wash, Shampoo, Conditioner & Soap. Hair Dryer was in a drawer below the sink.
In the Wardrobe, there were the Iron & Ironing Board, Two Bathrobes, a Safe, an Umbrella, a Small Fridge, a Kettle and non-complimentary BACHA Coffee and TWG Tea, a Self-Care Kit of Masks and Wipes.
— Table and Sofa
The Table and Sofa area was quite big. Chair was comfortable with a firm backrest. Good natural lighting for our Video Calls and a comfortable sofa to slam our butts on. In front of the table would be the bathtub area where we would need to slide a heavy partition door to separate the area and get some privacy.
— Outside Views
This was the front door view when we stepped outside – a lot of Residential Buildings next to the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering. The hanging greens and the plants outside the grilles still gave a nice photographic view.
This was the view outside the Window. A nicer landscape view of Shop houses around Chinatown and Swissotel The Stamford.
— Partition Door and Motorised Curtains
To separate the toilet area from the bed / table area would be this Heavy Partition Door. It took us some effort to slide it across. Nothing to lock and sound-blocking quality was high.
There were switches near the Window area to draw the motorised curtains down (a slow process) and the light blocking quality was also good.
— Internet Connection Speed
We did an Internet Speed Test (of Starhub) in the afternoon and the Upload Speed and Download Speed were 25.8 Mbps and 23.2 Mbps respectively. Speed and Connection were pretty stable for the two of us and we had no issue with our Online Conference Calls and simple Mobile Gameplay as well.
— Buffet Lunch At LIME Restaurant
We had our Buffet Lunch at their popular LIME Restaurant. Due to COVID-19, the ordering style was more restricted where we had to go to the different food sections to let them know what we wanted and how much servings. We did had a little service issue at the cakes section and the manager still remembered us at the Cashier Counter and he explained the situation at that time.
— Checking Out
The check-out process was rather straightforward with a box for us to drop off the key cards. We received the invoice via email a few hours later.
The overall hotel stay experience with PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering was pleasant.
