Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup is a popular eating outlet located at the Kembangan area. They have a long operational history of more than 50 years and they are known for its tasty Pork Liver Mee Sua (腰子面线).
Our Review On The Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup (Kembangan)
We visited the Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup after our Spin Cycling Class on a Sunday afternoon after craving for some soup and pork.
Parking was along the road and we were lucky to get a lot without having to do all those parallel parking techniques.
Menu And What We Ordered?

Other than the famous Pork Kidney Mee Sua Soup, Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup also have many other Menu Items like Fried Rice, Stir-Fried Vegetables, Crabs, Hor Funs, Claypots, Pork, Beef and Chicken Dishes. You can take a look at their online menu first which has 119 items with prices to choose from.
We decided to go for their Herbal Mee Sua Soup with Pork, Liver, Kidney (猪杂面线汤 – Large, $7.80) and Fermented Bean Curd Marinated Fried Pork (腐乳炸花肉 – Small, $13.80).
There was no queue on that late afternoon though the eating area was still around half occupied. We made our order and paid with DBS PayLah! We were then told to find a seat and they would serve shortly.

We took the table around the Drink Counter. For Drinks, we wanted to order at the counter but were told to ask for them next time. Anyway, they took our order and then we waited at the table. Drinks were served fast and the lady collected payment from us.
The Taste
— Chilies
The lady from the Cashier Counter spotted us and signaled to one of the staff to bring over the utensils and the two Chilies to our table.

The Chili with Soy Sauce (left) was for the Mee Sua and the Chili Sauce (right) was for the Fried Pork. The Soy Sauce was really spicy and went well with the soup. Be prepared to get some burnt feeling at the corner of your mouth.
The Chili Sauce was not too bad but too little for the small serving of the Fried Pork so you may want to ask for more on your visit.
— Fermented Bean Curd Marinated Fried Pork

The Fermented Bean Curd Marinated Fried Pork was served first. It came with some green garnishes but were easy to remove. We were surprised this was a Big Serving for a Small Size.

We really liked this Dish Item from Seng Kee. Each piece had thin fragrant crispy skin and the meat was tender with this tiny bit of melting fats which was not too greasy as well. The fermented taste was also not overpowering.
The meat could be eaten on its own or be eaten with the chili sauce.
— Herbal Mee Sua Soup with Pork, Liver, Kidney

The Herbal Mee Sua Soup with Pork, Liver, Kidney was served shortly after. We had ordered a large size and they were generous with the serving as well. It came with some greens and well hidden among the meats and noodles.

We drank off most of the soup and they really gave us a lot of Mee Sua! The noodle was mostly thick and not cut so we had to keep chewing it off so that we can swallow. Nothing impressive on the noodle though. The feeling of bloated-ness kicked in quite fast though.

Soup wise – it had a strong herbal soup taste, a bit oily but still not those overwhelming kind. We added the soya sauce and the soup became really spicy which left a lingering burnt taste on the corner of our mouths.
The other main characters were the Lean Pork, Chewy Kidney and Tender Liver. These were thinly sliced and could be eaten on its own, with the soup, mee sua or well dipped with chili.
Other than the Mee Sua, we liked the taste and texture of the pork, kidney and liver slices and the herbal soup. Mee Sua could be too much even for 2 person.
We enjoyed our Fermented Bean Curd Marinated Fried Pork and Herbal Mee Sua Soup with Pork, Liver, Kidney from Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup. We should be trying our dishes from them again when we are around the area.
