Som Tam Express – Thai Food Fusion At Hawker Price
The food court over at Blk 932 Hougang Ave 9 had gone through a new facelift and a new management and we decided to look see look see at the new stalls.
What caught our eyes were the few tables eating Mookata ordered from this Som Tam Express stall which is serving quite a menu of Modern Thai Food Fusion items ranging from Soup, Pasta, Rice, Burgers and Meats.
We did not try their Mookata but decided to go with their western food items – Pork Chop and Pasta.
Trying Their Grilled Pork Loin Chop and Green Curry Pasta
Grilled Pork Loin Chop with Mushroom Sauce ($7.50)
A small accident: Not too sure if the servings were big or the plate they used was too small. We got into a little accident of burning one of our fingers while walking and holding onto the edge of the hot plate. A reminder to ourselves to use the serving tray next time.
We tasted the fries first because they looked amazingly crisply! These were definitely one of the best fries that we have eaten and they were indeed very fragrant and crispy. Salad was also not the usual kind (just some greens with some salad dressing) and it was prepared in Thai Style which came with that sour taste. Bread was well toasted with garlic and not too oily.
The Pork Loin Chop was well prepared and tender but sad part was that the taste was normal even when eaten with the mushroom sauce.
Green Curry Pasta with Pork Chop ($6.50)
At first look, we thought it was Mee Rebus with that deep yellowish sauce. It was actually Green Curry which came with a special taste. The generous serving of the curry sauce made it inviting to sip it like soup which was in fact tasty. It was more on the sweet side than spicy. It was a bit disappointing to have bones on the pork chop that came with the pasta. The thin slice of meat was also on the drier side.
