About Takujo Japanese Fine Dining
Takujo Japanese Fine Dining is part of Emporium Shokuhin’s many dining concepts where you get to experience modern Japanese Cuisine while dining in an intimate setting. You can select from the menu (changes occasionally) or the option to choose your favourite live or chilled seafood, imported from Japan and other parts of the world, from their Live Seafood Market and get them cooked your way at Takujo.
Our Review On Takujo Japanese Fine Dining
Our very first intention was to go for the Omakase Menu as reviewed by other food bloggers and we were surprised that we saw no sign of it when we were seated down. We asked the manager if there was a separate menu for it and he mentioned that Divine Set Dinner was their Omakase Menu (hmmmm…), we were disappointed but since most places were getting crowded, we stayed put and decided to try out their Divine Set Dinners to see if it is worth to be a Japanese Fine Dining Experience.
Note: we checked with the lady at the cashier counter and she highlighted that they would change the menu every six months so that would explain why we could not satisfy our craving for Omakase this time round.
Food Taste
This was the Dinner set that we chose – One Sukiyaki and One Shabu-Shabu Set. We had wanted to choose different items for the Main Cause but ended up choosing the same so we missed out on the taste for other items.
— Ikura Chawanmushi
This was the first item that arrived shortly after our order – Ikura Chawanmushi. If you like squeezing Salmon Roe inside your mouth, you will have a good time with this item. Not sure if it was the atmosphere but it tasted better than the usual sushi chains. The egg was pretty smooth though we would have preferred a more generous serving of the roe.
— Flamed Shime Saba & Seared Shiromi Ponzu
These were the next two items that came after the Ikura Chawanmushi. The picture on the left is Seared Shiromi Ponzu, it is more towards the sashimi taste though it was pretty dry. It tasted fresh and the radish did make it more appetizing. The one on the right is the Flamed Shime Saba. It was actually pretty cooked if you cannot take raw food. Both types of fish tasted fresh and were light enough as appetizers.
— Japanese Vegetable Selection, Sauces & Niigata Rice
The sauces, rice and selection of Japanese Vegetable came after that along with the soup base. The vegetables came in generous portions and since the gentleman had to help the non-vegetable-eating lady to eat these, he was actually commenting that he was very full even before the dessert was served.
The rice is authentic Japanese Rice, well cooked and taste good.
— A5 ‘Miyazaki’ Ribeye
We think this Beef Slice was the main highlight for the Dinner Sets. The slices were not thin (so it’s worth your money) and there were enough fats in each slice. After cooking them in the soup base and putting them inside your mouth, you could literally taste the melting fats and meat on your tongue.
The six pieces would make you full so take some time in between to enjoy them.
If you really like it and would want to eat it at home, you can head to the supermarket and purchase this off the shelves. There are also other choices to go for. For more details, you can check out their estore.
— Dessert
This cake dessert is supposedly made from Tofu, Yogurt and Cheese and the recipe was invented in-house. There was no distinctive taste and smell when I first ate it but I could get the cheese taste after swallowing.
Our Verdict
The food and atmosphere was pretty ATAS (i.e. high class). We will probably come again to try their seasonal menu if budget allows. Though the beef was pretty value for money, we guess we still prefer more variation in our choices. We did regret not sharing one set meal while considering options from the seasonal menu.
For wine lovers, there are quite a number of choices there.
