The Armoury Craft Beer Bar (Weekend Steak Buffet) (Beach Road) (Relocated to Orchard Central)

Note: The Armoury Craft Beer Bar has relocated to Orchard Central. This review is for their Beach Road Outlet.

Our Armoury Craft Beer Bar Review

Armoury Craft Beer Bar

The Armoury Craft Beer Bar is all-day dining restaurant located at the South Beach Quarter, Beach Road where you can try out their western cuisines, specialty coffee, craft beer and wine. And if you are a meat lover, you can go for their Weekend Steak and Ribs Buffet (reservation required).

After trying out the Weekend Steak Buffet over at the Wicked Grill, we decided to try out the Weekend Steak Buffet offered by the Armoury Craft Beer Bar to see which restaurant offered the best meat buffet offering under $30.

Booking was rather straightforward which was done via their Resmio System. We made our booking on Jan 29 and the next available slot we could get was a Feb 11 afternoon slot. We went ahead with that, input some contact details and we got an email confirmation. An email reminder was also sent on Feb 10. (Note: the email included a cancellation link.)

When we arrived, the surroundings around the Armoury Craft Beer Bar seemed quiet and peaceful – definitely a good place to chill and enjoy some companionship while drinking away.

Only thing we did not like when we were there, was that there were a few of the staffs standing around but only 1 young guy who was taking all the orders, serving and clearing the tables. It took a while to get his attention but once our orders were taken, the food was served pretty fast.

— Their Ala-Carte & Drinks Menu

Other than the Weekend Steak Buffet, they also offered Ala-Carte items like Bar Bites (e.g. Spam Fries – $15), Burgers (e.g. Armoury Burger – $20), Pizzas (e.g. Spicy Pepperoni – $21), Grills (e.g. Balinese BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs – $20), Salads, Soups and Pastas.

They had a wide selections of drinks as well like Beers On Tap, Bottled Beer, House / Premium / Party Cocktails, Zero Alcohol, Housepour and Hard Liquors.

We went with a Tropical Twist ($6, a mixture of Watermelon, Coconut and Mint) and a can of Root Beer ($5) under their Zero Alcohol Section.

Their Steak Buffet Menu

Their Menu was straightforward with two Main Sections – Meat and Bar Platter.

For the Meat, we could choose:

  • Rib Eye Steak
  • Striploin Steak
  • Balinese Pork Ribs
  • Chicken Thigh
  • Beer Battered Fish
  • Grilled Squid

For the Bar Platter, we could choose:

  • Nacho Chips
  • Salad
  • Coleslaw
  • Fries
  • Spam Fries
  • Grilled Corn
  • Spicy Buffalo Winglets
  • Chicken Satay
  • Pasta

The cost was $29.90 per person before Service Charge (10%) and GST (7%). They only accept Cash Payment.

They also had some Drinks Promotion (for additional charges) like 2 Crafts Beer + 4 Pint Jugs at $60 and House Wine at $35.

The ordering was straightforward. We just picked what we wanted from the menu and then we waited for the food to be prepared.

Food Presentations & Taste

The Bar Platter that we tried at Armoury Craft Beer Bar

For our first Bar Platter, we went with almost everything (Nacho Chips, Coleslaw, Fries, Spam (Luncheon Meat) Fries, Grilled Corn, Spicy Buffalo Winglets and Chicken Satay) except for the spaghetti. It was easier to make the order by telling them what we didn’t want.

For the Spam Fries, we found it a bit too salty and nearly spoilt our appetite. Nacho Chips were bit soft and they could have been generous with the sauce. The dressing for the Coleslaw was a bit bland (KFC was much better!).

Both of us liked the Spicy Buffalo Wings a lot which we felt the skin was really crispy and the meat was tender. The spiciness was just so-so. Fries came in a large portion and they were crispy throughout. Satay was also tender and chewy enough.

The few types of meats from Armoury Craft Beer Bar

For our Meats, we ordered the Rib Eye Steak, Striploin Steak, Chicken Thigh, Beer Battered Fish and Grilled Squid minus the Balinese Pork Ribs (they did not have that for that day).

The Rib Eye Steak and Striploin Steak were generally well-cooked. They were thinly cut, came with no fats, no taste of blood and not as chewy as we thought it would be. Generally they till tasted quite good. Grilled Squid was chewy with a general taste.

We liked the crispy parts (really crunchy) of the Beer Battered Fish though we were wondering why there was no taste of beer. The fish meat had a general taste.

Of all the meats, we liked the Chicken Thigh the most. They were well fried though dry-looking on the outside, skin was very crispy and when we bit through them, we could see and taste the juice seeping out from the tender meat.
